Friends of Cudham and Downe Churches

The Friends of Cudham Church, St Peter and St Paul have been set up in order that we can maintain the beauty of our 11th century church for future generations to enjoy. Standing at a high point in the village of Cudham, the church was mentioned in the Doomsday Book in 1086 and it is likely that a place of worship has existed on the site since before 956AD. The Church building has been maintained, and is still being maintained by the church congregation and local community with no help from the Church of England or Central Government.

Fund raising events have included Barn Dances, musical concert, exhibition of Cudham History in the church and the Christmas Tree Festival which were a resounding success.  Please click upcoming events for more details.

The Friends of St Mary's, Downe  In 2011 the Friends of St Mary's, Downe was formed.  We raise money which can be used for the upkeep of the fabric of the church building and contents.  We invite donations which can be Gift Aided.  We hold fund raising activities, such as talks of local interest, Music Concerts, Family Fun days, Art Exhibition, conducted walks and an annual Quiz.  We hope you will be able to join us - please click on this link to view forthcoming events.

Every five years the church buildings are independently surveyed and a report is written giving a schedule of works.  The schedule shows the work that should be completed to keep the buildings to the required standard over the next five years.  It lists the most important repairs, those that must be completed, right down to repairs that would be good to do when funds are available.
